Freeman's Mill

At Freeman's Mill, we use old timey milling machinery and processes to provide you, our valued customer, with the best tasting Grits, Corn Meal and Flour that we can produce. We diligently search for and use the highest quality grains to produce our products from. Our Grits and Corn Meal are ground on our 100+ year old granite mills. One of the mills is a 46" Cole flat rock mill and the other is a 24" Davis vertical mill; both mills were built in Georgia. Our Flour is milled on ether the 24" Davis stone mill or a 100 year old Midget Marvel 50 Barrel Mill. Our mill can be powered by a Continental 1 Cylinder Cotton Gin Engine that dates to the 1930's and weighs in excess of 10 tons, an Atlas Steam EngineĀ and an electric motor all of which provide power to the main line shaft through the mill. Our products are bagged in white paper bags that are printed on our 1880's model Chandler-Price printing press. Each fall, we as a family continue a generations old tradition of cooking pure sugar cane syrup the old fashioned way. We grow our cane the way Daddy and Grandaddy taught us to and then cook it on the old wood fired furnace that we have used for at least 35 years. You can go to our Youtube page at Freeman's Mill to see video of us grinding and cooking our syrup as well as our grits mill running. There are also news articles that you can access from the home page of our web site. Our mill is located in Bulloch County, Georgia between Statesboro and Register. Visitors are welcome, but call ahead at 912-852-9381! The highest quality of our product is of chief concern to us. Our mill and products are licensed and regularly inspected by the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
