Ingredients
- 1 Pound ground beef
- ½ Cup flour
- Salt & pepper
- 3 Tablespoons each, butter and vegetable oil, divided
- 2 Cups milk, more if needed
- 2 Cups thinly sliced onions
- 3 Cups sliced mushrooms
Directions
Divide ground beef into 6 pieces. Form each piece into a ball then flatten. Spread flour on cutting board. One at a time, place a beef patty on flour. Season beef with salt and pepper. Sprinkle beef with a small amount of flour to prevent sticking to rolling pin. Using rolling pin, roll out to about ¼ inch thick. Set aside the repeat with remaining beef.
Heat 2 tablespoons of butter and 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Place as many of the patties that will fit comfortably in the pan. Cook until brown on both sides. Remove and set aside. Repeat with remaining patties Add remaining butter and oil to pan then add onions and mushrooms. Cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons of the flour left on the board or if none is left on the board use new flour. Stir well to combine then cook stirring for 3 – 4 minutes. Gradually add the milk, stirring to combine well and until there are no lumps. Bring mixture to a boil then reduce heat. If mixture is too thick add more milk until desired thickness. Add beef patties and any juice on plate back into skillet. Cook on low heat for 20 – 30 minutes or until meat is very tender.
Serve with rice or mashed potatoes with gravy on top.
