Shrimp

Between 400 and 500 licensed shrimp boats do most of the commercial harvesting in Georgia. Their territory ranges from the coast to eight miles offshore.

Small size, big business.

The shrimp industry is anything but shrimpy here in Georgia. In fact, it accounts for more than 80% of our total value of caught seafood. That’s between 4- to 10-million pounds weighing in at over $7.5 million.

We'll never skimp on shrimp.

While harvesting is allowed year-round in federal waters, we believe in balance. That’s why our shrimp season only begins when the Georgia Department of Natural Resources gives the go-ahead that adult abundance is sustainable, usually mid-June through December.
