Consumed by both citizens and livestock, wheat is an essential part of the food cycle. Typically grown in a double-crop system with soybean or cotton, Georgia yields have increased to nearly 50 bushels per acre over the past 15 years.
After a wheat production drop-off in 2017, Georgia has planted 70,000 acres of wheat valued at more than $17.7 million dollars, according to the 2018 State Agriculture Overview from NASS and USDA.
